As graphic designers with many years experience we have the ability to take your ideas and create letterpress wedding invitations to suit your day and your personality. Our estimates include all design fees and we don’t put a limit on the number of revisions required. We want you to be 100% over the moon with your design, so if we don’t get it spot on the first time, we keep working until you are doing a little happy dance in your seat.

Choosing to create a custom design allows you to be creative, include personal themes, colours and details that set the tone for your most precious day. We work closely with you, communicating via phone calls and emails to achieve perfection. We love to see your style boards and ideas to give us a feel for your vision, however please note that we will not copy another artist’s work under any circumstances.

The custom design process

Step 1
Estimate. Contact us for a detailed estimate. We will provide you with a form outlining the details and quantities of everything you require for your pre-wedding, ceremony and reception stationery. Don’t forget to read over our range of options that you may wish to include. All of our estimates are individually itemised, making it easy to stay within your budget.
Step 2
Brief. When you have decided on the inclusions for your stationery and have decided you wish to work with Paper Elephant we will send you the design deposit (40% of the estimate total), a individualised timeline of the process and our design brief. Here is where we get to know you and your partner, the more we get to know you, the more we feel we are working with old friends and designing your stationery becomes a very personal process. You can include any inspirations you may have that have inspired your vision so far, Pinterest boards are ideal for this process too. The brief also includes a worksheet for your invitation wording.

Step 3
Design. We should now we have everything we need to commence the design of your invitation, please allow 1-2 weeks for the first round of designs. Initially we work only on the invitation design, as the star of the entire suite it’s important to get it just right. Once we have the invitation perfected we move onto the design of the remaining pieces by applying your approved design elements. A total of 5-6 weeks is usually required for the entire process to be sure you aren’t rushed with your decisions.
Step 4
Approval. It’s getting exciting now. When all pieces are designed we will issue you with a final approval form and an invoice for the remaining balance of your stationery. When you have returned your signed approval and your payment has cleared we order the plates for your stationery, we hand mix the inks and we get down to the fun part. The printing process generally takes 3-4 weeks.
Step 5
Delivery. We now trim, wrap and pack your stationery with the utmost care. We will let you know when to expect your precious package which will be sent by insured overnight express delivery (subject to delivery postcode being within the overnight delivery area). And this is when we wish we could be a fly on the wall to see your reaction when you see your letterpress wedding invitations in person.
